Engineer secure systems that matter
Join our Delivery and Customer Service team as a Linux System Engineer and help customers resolve complex technical issues while strengthening and optimising their security.
You will work in a dynamic team of four to six engineers and support organisations, resellers and customers with secure, reliable solutions.
The role
As a Linux System Engineer, you will combine technical support, delivery, infrastructure operations, consultancy and automation. Your responsibilities will include:

- Support & delivery: Support the installation and administration of the AXS Guard security appliance for internal teams, resellers and customers. Diagnose and resolve technical issues from the office or remotely through the ticketing system and by phone.
- Hardware & logistics: Assemble, test, ship, install and replace firewalls, creating physical or virtual test environments when required.
- Consultancy & training: After your onboarding period, advise customers on cybersecurity, train resellers and customers on networking and advanced AXS Guard features, and conduct security audits through Health Checks.
- Operations & automation: Keep networks stable, secure and performant. Monitor systems to identify issues early, manage patches and vulnerabilities, and streamline repetitive tasks through scripts and administration tools.
- Internal IT support: Occasionally support the internal IT team with the administration and configuration of Linux and macOS systems.
- Documentation & ticket follow-up: Follow up tickets accurately in Request Tracker and maintain technical documentation independently.
The profile we are looking for
Experience & Background
- A bachelor’s degree in ICT or equivalent practical experience. We value demonstrated capability, including for candidates without a formal degree.
- Strong knowledge of computer networks and cybersecurity, including TCP/IP and the OSI model, VPNs and cryptography, authentication and identity management, email, firewalling, DNS, proxies and reverse proxies.
- Extensive knowledge of the Linux command line and common tools, along with high-availability technologies such as Rsync and Heartbeat.
- Solid troubleshooting experience using tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump, as well as command-line log analysis.
- Knowledge of scripting and automation using one or more of Python, Perl, Bash, PowerShell or Ansible.
- Confidence with tools such as VirtualBox, Google Workspace, Request Tracker, Redmine, Git and Azure.
- Knowledge of ERP systems such as Odoo and phishing platforms such as Phished.io or KnowBe4 is an advantage.
